“Sino Ka Ba?”
The City celebrated it 75th foundation anniversary last year and Gensan saw a grandiose pomp and circumstance of memoirs and remembrances of the history of General Santos City as a place; the city looked back and traced its glorious past.
“Sino ka, Heneral?” is not only a question of patrimony, it’s a question of identity.
When defining one’s identity one should not only look at the obvious, one should introspect, look deeper within himself:
From the tangibles ( the clothes one wears, the architecture of one’s house, the tools and gadgets that one uses to the intangibles: Language, religion, belief systems, technologies) His history is also important, how cultures from the Earliest inhabitants to the coming of the Islam in the early part of the history to the coming of the homesteads at the end of the 19th century to the coming of Gen. Santos and the NLSA . Kalilangan, as a festival that celebrates history, wanted to trace a longer and older history.

This year’s theme therefore is articulated by two words : Culture and Identity
